TeamPRG.org is proud to announce that Leo Kates has joined our editorial team! Leo is one of the most polite kids I know but when he gets on the wall, he takes no prisoners.
Here's a shot of him at the Climbnasium Frostbite Adult Bouldering comp a few weeks ago. For those of you that don't know, Climbnasium climbers are about as hardcore as you can imagine and Leo more than held his own in that strong, crusty field by winning the men's intermediate category.
Leo has been climbing for 4 years and has been an enthusiastic member of TeamPRG since 2013. His favorite type of climbing is sport. His most memorable ascent was his
redpoint send of Supafly, 5.12a, at the Red River Gorge in Kentucky because as he puts it, "I was pumped out of my mind and wasn't even expecting to make it half way up." He's been coaching youth programs for over a year now, and loves helping others work out the beta so they can make it to the top!
"My two favorite foods are fish tacos and soft serve ice cream, and my favorite Miguel's pizza toppings are avocado and chorizo."
