The Junior Indoor Bouldering Championships is a unique event which rewards young competitive climbers for their dedication, their passion and their talents as the future stars of competitive climbing. The event combines the elements of prestigious national and pro level events--media coverage (including online video and print) high-quality route-setting, a premier format, other special events, and prizes including cash, gear and Scholarships. Since 2005, JIBS has offered climbing scholarships to junior competitors who climb at the top of their field, as well as to those who demonstrate a passion and commitment to this sport.

Full Weekend Registration: $79  Includes competition, T-shirt* and lunch on Sat & Sunday clinics.
Basic Registration: $59 Includes competition, T-shirt* & 1 spectator pass to finals.
Deluxe Spectator Pass: $20 Includes T-shirt* and lunch on Saturday.

*Pre-registration has been extended to Friday at 8pm to get a T-Shirt.

JIBS has 3 male and female categories based on your age as of March 1st, 2014
  • 11 & under
  • 12-14
  • 15-18
Competition Details
Saturday, March 15

Preliminary Round
The format for Preliminaries will be Redpoint. Competitors will be scored on their best 5 problems. The Top 10 climbers from 12-14 and 15+ age groups, and Top 6 from the 11- age group, will advance to Finals.

7:30-8:45 am Check-in
9-12 pm Climbing
2:30 pm Results

Male Preliminaries
12:00-12:45 pm Check-in: 
1-4 pm Climbing
4:30 pm Results

Finals
Finals will be a modified World Cup format. Climbers will climb 4 problems with 4 minutes of climbing time and 4 minutes of rest in between. Climbers will be scored based on the highest point reached on each problem, using falls to break ties. In the case of a tie on all problems in finals, the competitors ranking in the preliminary round will be used to break the tie.

Pro Clinics, 
Sunday, March 16, from 10am to 1pm

There will be three hours of clinics with professional climbers and climbing coaches on how to improve technique, climbing training and mental training.
Last year instructors included:
Dino Liddick - Head Routesetter for JIBS and the PRG, veteran setter of 8 Regional Championships, 2 Divisionals & more than a dozen Pro comps. 
Vasya Vorotnikov - La Sportiva Team Athlete, World Cup Bouldering competitor. 
Eric Horst - first ascensionist, training expert and author of the most popular climbing training series around. 
David Rowland - JIBS Founder, Program Director of Team PRG (including two Youth National & Continental Champions) 
Randi Goldberg - Level II USAC Certified Coach, former Head Coach of the 2009 Regional Bouldering Champions, current Team PRG Head Coach.
Dyno Comp
Sunday, March 16, from 12pm to 2pm

JIBS will hold its first ever Dyno Championships! Competitors from each category will be eligible to compete to become the Champion of their category by sending the highest number of dyno’s set.
