ABS 2012 Youth Capitol Region Championships - Winter Burn

ABS Capitol Region Championships is for youth age-group climbers to compete for the chance to go to the Divisional Championships in winter 2013!

All Youth Competitors must Pre-register for this event through the USAC Website by December 1st 11:59pm Mountain Time.  FREE T-Shirt included.

Plus...FREE Food for all competitors, prizes for all categories and raffles, libations, after-party, and the Best Problems in the East! Come to climb the freshest problems from some of the best route setters in the country, stay and watch some of the best climbers in the area go head to head in Finals. Spectators are welcome!

Format:
Youth Preliminaries will be Open Redpoint Format. Climbers' rank in pre-lims and the Youth Event will be based on their top 5 problems. There is no limit on the number of tries.

Finals will be a Modified World Cup Format (Onsight).  The competitors with the 10 highest scores from the preliminary round  in each category will advance to finals.  Finals competitors will enter isolation at the specified time. Three problems are anticipated during the final round.  Competitors will not be allowed to watch other competitors tries, prior to their own. Each competitor will be escorted to the finals problem 1 at a time.  Competitors will be able to make as many tries at the problem within the specified time limit.  The score will be based on the the highest hold reached during any try.  Falls will be used to break ties.  Competitors will be allowed a rest period in between each problem.  The top 7 eligible competitors in each category receive automatic invitations to Divisionals.

For more information on the ABS rules regarding these formats and other non-format specific rules (e.g. filing protests, etc.) please see the USA Climbing Rulebook.  All competitors, parents and coaches are expected to be familiar with these rules prior to attending the competition.

Prelims: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Finals Start:  ~1:30 pm - approx 3:30 pm

Youth competitors:
Be sure you have your 2 local comps in as a registered USAC member if you want to advance to Divisionals at Gravity Vault in Upper Saddle River, NJ.  The easiest way to check your comps are properly linked to your membership is to click on your name in the USAClimbing Members page.  If your comps are not properly linked, please send an email to the Regional Coordinator, Mike Wilson mikewilsondc@yahoo.com
